Practice Task 1-
"Well done for embedding your powerpoint. The comments you made in your research show really sound understanding of the way that products like this work and this research has clearly impacted on your final product. I really liked your choice of font but I think you needed a few more sell lines. You still did a really good job, but do remember that the task was to produce two front covers. Next time, doggedly work on fulfilling the brief."
Practice Task 2-
"Your photography shows really sound awareness of lighting. It is always useful for you to keep a careful note of the settings that you have found successful, and the blog is a good place to do this. You can review the settings on the camera after you have taken the image. You do need to be careful about fulfilling the brief. The action shot, for example, is meant to be full length. This is not a problem for this task, but really review the brief for the mock assessment piece that you should be submitting by the end of this week."
Practice Task 3-
Research
You were genuinely thoughtful here, but when it comes to your real research you need to be a little more thorough. You will have quite a bit longer to get to understand your genre and especially to understand how they target their audience using media language to construct narratives and representations. There are no marks for this, but the greater the level of expertise the better your production work will be.
Magazine
I'm a little unsure about the huge amount of white space on your contents page, especially the way there is one rather full column and one that is almost empty. I have to admit that it does look quite stylish, but unfortunately it could be misinterpreted as incomplete. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt here. The next thing you need to be really careful with is representation. In this case, I'm aware that the brief made no demands about representations of people and that your real briefs will and do, so make sure that you think really carefully about that. It is very unusual for a magazine to have no images if people in the cover and contents because people ae interested in people. So, lots of criticism there, and things to consider, but all in all a pretty good piece. 19/25
Website
The website gives us our people but it is not as slick as the magazine. Where the clean and minimalist style of the magazine worked, the same is rarely true of websites. The idea with a website is that there is tons of information available for the reader to engage with and enjoy. Yours looks like there are a few interesting things, but not enough to entice me to look much deeper. When it comes to the real thing you need to copy something that exists. Really closely copy it. Once you have a closely copied template, embellish it to your hearts content, but start with something that looks absolutely like a real website. All details included. 16/25
Convergence
There are clearly some obvious links between the two productions, but you need to be more dynamic and deep in creating this connection. As we progress toward the completion of your real coursework I will be making lots of small suggestions, but things like similarity in style (which is sort of there) are important, along with things like calls to action etc. 6/10

This is a really solid first attempt to work on a task of this nature. You have A grade potential. Well done.
